Help ban the last poison that can kill wolves in Canada

Health Canada decided to keep Compound 1080 registered for use on wolves and coyotes in 2024. We filed a Notice of Objection in response to this irresponsible decision. Two years later, we are still waiting for the federal government to respond to our objection.

In 2025, Alberta quietly and voluntarily decided they would no longer poison wolves with Compound 1080, effectively bringing an end to purposeful wolf poisoning across Canada.

While this remains a significant victory, our fight is not over until Compound 1080 can no longer be used on coyotes, since this poison can kill these animals as well ...

While this remains a significant victory, our fight is not over until Compound 1080 can no longer be used on coyotes, since this poison can kill these animals as well as many others, including wolves. Compound 1080 is also inhumane and indiscriminate as a poison, with symptoms being extremely painful and prolonged before death.

Due to a slower onset of symptoms, animals that consume Compound 1080 are able to travel further from bait sites, making them extremely hard to find. Their poisoned carcasses then become poison baits themselves.

Remind Health Canada: Compound 1080 belongs in the past

Email the decision makers and ask that they promptly respond to our objection to Compound 1080's registration in Canada, and ban this reckless poison for good.

An individually written letter can have a huge impact on government officials. The more informed, individualized and targeted a letter is, the better.

You can also start with the copy we've provided in this form - just add your own introduction or closing to make it yours.

Identical letters to the government are counted as a single voice, and we need as many voices taken into account as possible! It also makes it more difficult for governments to adopt a standard response.
